About the Library

Several years ago, members of the Child Life Services program initiated the idea of a resource library at the Children's, one that would provide health information and resources to families with children who are treated at the Hospital.

The process of developing a new space such as this required the commitment of many people.

The Family Resource Library, a bright, modern space located in Room C-542, is an area that was renovated in 2000 to be an attractive and welcoming place for parents and patients alike. The room not only has several hundred books on its shelves but there is a toy-lending library, a comfortable sitting area, and two computer workstations for patients and their families.

The library is staffed by a professional librarian, Lynn Kiraly-Batist, MLIS, and a number of volunteers, some of whom are students at the Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences at McGill University. The librarian is available for consultation during opening hours.
